A network of events for people who are service designing by people who are service designing... more>
Based on the great success of our first Service Design Drinks in June we’ll be having our first Service Design Thinks this September.
Please join us for three talks and one big conversation exploring the starting points for the design of services and good customer experiences.
We’ll explore questions like:
* Where do you actually start?
* Who do you start with?
* What kind of people, processes and propositions make a new service more likely to succeed?

After a great turnout at the Slaughtered Lamb last month, we’ll be there again this month for London Service Design Drinks. Join London-based service designers and people interested in service design for conversations and drinking on Friday 27 August after work (or from 6pm). We’ve reserved a couple of tables in the back so look out for the signs!
We are delighted to welcome Elena Pacenti to Service Design Thinks in SF! Elena the director of a brand new masters program in service design at the Domus Academy in Milan.
Since the first SDD took place we discussed a lot about how to adapt Service Design Drinks to our own needs and expectations and basically dealt with the format for our meetings such as book or article reviews and commonly viewing of TED talks, SD Thinks or other videos…
To combine all ideas we decided to rather focus on a specific topic than on a specific format. In practice this means we have one topic for our meeting and everybody is invited to contribute and present videos, articles, case studies, methods, book reviews, theories… and so on.
The SDD in Cologne and Berlin have the same topics so that we afterwards can exchange the in- and output of both communities. Cologne and Berlin alternately define the topic for the next SDD at the end of each SDD.
SDD/CB present their next topic:
DESIGN HAPPINESS
gross national happiness vs. gross domestic product / personal lifetime goals vs. social moral / success vs. failure / wealth vs. prosperity
All kind of contributions (small/ big, digital/ analogue, practical/ theoretical…) are welcome - everybody is a creator of this night!
Join other London service designers and people interested in service design and innovation for conversations and drinking at the Slaughtered Lamb in Clerkenwell, after work (or 6pm onwards) on the 30th of July. We’ve reserved a couple of tables in the back - look out for the sign!

This special edition of SF Service Design Drinks will be a bit more organized in that we will have a guest speaker. Ben Fullerton will be giving an overview of service design and share his experience at the early stages of London-based service design firm live|work. The short talk will be followed by Q&A and the great friendly discussions and drinks you’ve come to expect from service design drinks.

Another book that puts forward Design Thinking and its importance for innovation. The reviews of the book are very positive so hopefully another interesting book to read and discuss together.

On 20 January we will be getting together to discuss a recently published and interesting book related to Service Design. This time it’s Tim Brown’s new book ‘Change by Design’. A must read for everyone in the field, so why not come and talk about it with a group of peers in the field?
Enough time to order the book, read it over Christmas, and be ready for some fresh perspectives by 20 January. So no excuses!
A great service design case study of Contours ladies gyms from Damian Kernahan (Proto Partners) and some wise words of experience from Ellie Nichol (BT Financial Group)

Another of those lovely, lively evenings of drinking and chatting about Service Design (and other things). Alternating between Amsterdam and Utrecht: this time it is Amsterdam again. Same place as before (Cafe Kobalt, opposite Central Station). Everyone who feels connected to this vibrant community of peers is warmly invited!
The second Service Design Thinks event will focus on the idea of ‘service design at scale’. We’ve got three really interesting speakers representing very different approaches to service design practice who’ll be sharing their experiences of designing for, and working at, large scale in services.

There’ll be a quick Service Design Drinks introduction from Damian Kernahan (Proto Partners) and an equally quick talk from Suze Ingram (Service Design Hub) to get us thinking and chatting. It’s our first meeting – so be an early adopter and come along.
